The MVP Basketball Academy emerged as the first local club to form a partnership with a leading basketball entity from the Philippines, P1NOY Youth Dreamers. The official signing of the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between representatives of both clubs took place at MABA House last Friday.
MVP represented by Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah and marketing executive Khairul Anwar while Youth Dreamers represented by its founder and director, Beaujing Acot.
According to Datuk Saifuddin, the collaboration with Youth Dreamers is most appropriate and a good choice as Philippines is a basketball powerhouse in the Asean region.
“Basketball being one of the popular sports in Malaysia needs to be further developed especially among the youngsters. Young and talented players in various age groups will have the opportunity to undergo training with Youth Dreamers.
“We hope when the youngsters from the various age-groups return to Malaysia, they will give basketball a further boost. I also like to thank to our sponsors who have come forward to assist us, ”he added.
Earlier, Acot said that coaches and promising players recommended by MVP will undergo intensive trainings at Youth Dreamers. The players from various age-groups however will be trained for a week under a program which he called ‘Immersion Program’.
“The coaches Coaching Programs will involve the latest technologies and drills. We will try our level best to improve their level of coaching and accommodate them to watch the basketball Awareness Programs of Philippines Basketball Association (PBA).
“It will enable the coaches from Malaysia to watch and study ‘live’ practices of PBA teams in action in order to know the standard of Philippines basketball.”
